United Community Housing Coalition (UCHC) proudly celebrates 50 years of Keeping Detroit Housed through innovative homeowner programs, legal services and representation, and ongoing housing support for Detroit residents.

This is a time to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and envision a future of even greater impact through continued and new partnerships.

Since our founding, we’ve been dedicated to providing eviction defense, homeowner solutions, foreclosure prevention, housing placement and tenant organizing, and home repair services.

We’re grateful for the support of our partners, volunteers, and community members who have made this journey possible, and we honor the legacy of those who have contributed to our mission. Together, we’ve built a stronger, more resilient Detroit community and provided hope and stability to countless households.

Stable housing has a profound impact on families:

  • improved mental and physical health outcomes

  • increased school attendance and student success

  • overall prosperity of communities

Representation, support, and ownership are the key pillars of resilient neighborhoods. We believe it’s not just about providing shelter but about empowering individuals to take pride and have a stake in their communities. This approach enhances residents' quality of life and contributes to the overall stability and prosperity of our city.

UCHC’s efforts seek to ensure that every individual and family living in Detroit, regardless of income, can stay in their home.

As we celebrate 50 years of impactful work, we’re excited to share stories of the individuals and families we’ve supported, the dedicated staff, and the stakeholders who have made this work possible. Stay tuned for special events, success stories, and ways you can get involved in our milestone celebrations.
