Lani Ward
Director, Housing Stability

Lani Ward began her career at UCHC in 2020 as a contractor working on tenant rental assistance and is now serving as Director of Housing Stability at the United Community Housing Coalition. In this role, they lead critical programs that address housing insecurity, including eviction prevention, landlord-tenant mediation, and client service optimization. Their work centers on improving service delivery systems, supervising outreach efforts, and enhancing accountability frameworks that support vulnerable residents.
With a strong foundation in academic instruction, Lani served as a teacher for more than 30 years. During this time, she played a key role in curriculum development and school improvement initiatives, including the planning and programming for a new middle school. Their collaborative leadership style fostered strong engagement with parents, staff, and community partners, helping to create inclusive, student-centered environments.
Throughout their career in education, Lani was consistently involved in district-wide strategic planning, teacher training, and technology integration. She held supervisory roles in professional development and program implementation and contributed to state-level educational efforts through involvement with the Michigan Association of Computer Users in Learning and the Michigan Association of Educational Data Systems.
Lani holds a Master of Arts in Administration from Wayne State University, a Master of Arts in Curriculum Development and Leadership from Oakland University
