Bill Halbower serves as the Director of Legal Services at United Community Housing Coalition (UCHC), where he has been a dedicated advocate for low-income Detroit residents facing eviction. A graduate of Michigan State University with a B.A. in Finance, Bill also earned his J.D. from Michigan State College of Law and has been an active member of the State Bar of Michigan since 2015.
Since joining UCHC, Bill has played a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of the 36th District Court Housing Clinic and the Eviction Diversion Program, directly representing hundreds of clients in eviction cases. His legal expertise is complemented by his previous experience with Michigan Legal Services, where he worked in the tax foreclosure prevention department and received a Spirit of Detroit Award for his contributions to District 7’s Tax Foreclosure Prevention efforts.
In his current role, Bill is committed to ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to legal representation and support. He works tirelessly to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate the legal system, advocating for their rights and helping them secure stable housing. With his strong background in both legal practice and community service, Bill is a vital part of UCHC’s mission to promote housing justice and stability in Detroit.
