Data Analyst - Tax

Position overview:

The Data Analyst for Tax Foreclosure Prevention must be passionate about issues relating to housing opportunity and have a background in research and data entry. This position requires excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate input of sensitive client information, and follow-through to ensure client data reaches all staff and locations necessary. This position has little client interaction, but the output of the position significantly impacts the work that UCHC and Tax Foreclosure Prevention team does. The data analyst will serve underneath the Director of Data Analytics and will work closely with the Tax Foreclosure Prevention team.


Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely input of client information into our customer relationship management system Salesforce, including personal and household information, tax foreclosure prevention programs and services the client is utilizing/has utilized.

  • Ensure all tax foreclosure prevention client files are in (or are en route to) their correct location.

  • Maintain and update Tax Foreclosure Prevention spreadsheets on a regular basis. 

  • Access property tax information on Wayne County Treasurer’s website, City of Detroit’s website, and other websites such as Google Maps and Landgrid, and interpret these materials accurately.

  • Reduce, combine, specialize, or edit spreadsheets to find appropriate and accurate data for tax foreclosure prevention counselors.

  • Participate in frequent small and large research projects as needed toward Tax Foreclosure Prevention goals.

  • Create and edit documents and materials using software such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and Windows tools.

  • Additional tasks as required.


Preferred qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will believe in UCHC’s mission and demonstrate a passion for driving the organization’s growth. They will also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or high school graduate (or equivalent) with relevant experience. 

  • Significant skill and experience in data entry, statistics, and analysis. 

  • Experience with customer relationship management system Salesforce.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Suite, and other related platforms; specifically, experience with writing formulas.

  • Demonstrated ability in regards to quantitative research methods and uses.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to perform tedious tasks for long stretches of time with high accuracy and speed.

  • Ability to comfortably ask questions when a directive or situation is unclear. 

  • Ability to participate in conversations surrounding programmatic administration.

  • Interest in solving problems and answering questions in relation to property taxes and tax foreclosure using data-driven methods.

  • Interest in helping fight the tax foreclosure crisis and in understanding various property tax structures at the municipal and state levels.

  • Considers client confidentiality and data integrity a high priority.


Full-time position with benefits. Hourly rate commensurate with experience. 
Schedule: Primarily 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
