1.  RFP - UCHC/SHP-D Evaluation Project

United Community Housing Coalition (UCHC) is seeking a Request for Proposal for an evaluator to assist in conducting a mixed methods process and outcome evaluation that assesses the extent to which we accomplished our objectives set forth in our grant agreement with Enterprise. UCHC is engaged in a project to support the work of Senior Housing Preservation – Detroit (SHP-D). SHP-D is a coalition of organizations and individuals who are dedicated to the preservation of subsidized low income senior housing in Detroit. Known for advocacy, the members of SHP-DETROIT have come together to increase awareness of the displacement of Detroit Seniors and to communicate the need for action to protect their rights and well-being.

2.  Housing Counselor - TFPP

United Community Housing Coalition (UCHC) is seeking a dedicated person to serve as a housing counselor for the Tax Foreclosure Prevention Project (TFPP).

As a housing counselor, you will work directly with residents of homes at risk of tax foreclosure. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem solving skills as well as strong computer and writing skills. He/she must be able to work both independently and collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The counselor must possess sound judgment, have the ability to think creatively, be able to grasp factual situations, and be detail oriented. We will train you, but we will also trust you to ask for help when you need it. We are a highly collaborative team and we each expand our body of knowledge and practice through high volumes of case work and interaction.

Responsibilities 
  •  Assessing the situation, communicating the client’s options, and creating a plan to navigate the foreclosure.
  •  Weaving together property information, data from city and county resources, and options from outside resources to advise clients
  •  Completing necessary paperwork and thoroughly explaining next steps.
  •  Counseling a large number of clients and assisting with client outreach via phone and mail.
  •  Joining the team at community events including the Show Cause Hearings and various weekends and evening events throughout the year.
  •  Keeping sensitive client and organization information confidential.
Qualifications & Requirements
  •  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in human services field
  •  Excellent writing, research, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  •  Computer literacy and basic skills with Microsoft Word required
  •  The ability to work both independently and as a part of a group
  •  The ability to learn quickly and to balance multiple projects at once
  •  Demonstrated commitment to community and the population we serve
